Dr. Katherine Simmons is an obstetrician gynecologist and reproductive specialist within the division of reproductive health at CDC. During this presentation, she will be discussing the 2016 updates to the U.S. Medical Eligibility Criteria and the U.S. Selected Practice Recommendations for Contraceptive Use through the use of several case studies. This course offers 1.0 contact hour.

By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the U.S. Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use, 2016 (U.S. MEC) and U.S. Selected Practice Recommendations for Contraceptive Use, 2016 (U.S. SPR)
  2. Identify intended use and target audience
  3. Understand how to use the U.S. MEC and U.S. SPR
  4. Apply the guidance in specific situations, based on clinical scenarios
